Balancing stonesA workshop for Health Professionals with an Interest in Eating Disorders
5-6 March 2009

Eating disorders affect a great percentage of adolescents. The dramatic increase in their incidence rates in the last few decades and the high mortality rate associated with them have made it even more necessary to find effective treatments. Research has supported the use of Family-Based Treatment (FBT) as an evidence-based therapy for the treatment of eating disorders in adolescents.

This course was of particular interest to psychologists, psychiatrists, school psychologists, family therapists nutritionists and all professionals dealing with eating disorders.

The keynote speaker was Daniel le Grange, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Chicago and Director, Eating Disorders Program, University of Chicago Hospitals.

This workshop was co-sponsored by the Institute of Advanced Studies, UWA, Princess Margaret Hospital, UWA School of Psychology, and Centre for Clinical Interventions Eating Disorders Programme.
