The ARC Network for Early European Research hosted its inaugural conference at the University of Western Australia in July 2007.
The conference aimed to foster innovative research and new connections between researchers, and especially to promote interdisciplinary and international contacts and collaborations.
With this in mind, the conference hosted nine guest plenary speakers whose topics had relevance for scholars working in medicine, Italian studies, travel and communication, intellectual histories, political science, colonialism, anthropology, history, European literatures, drama, and archaeology.
The conference encouraged discussion and the future advancement of topics and themes by means of 21 panel sessions of four pre-circulated papers per session.
