Thinking society, thinking culture

This unique symposium was held for the first time in 2007.

A new forum of interdisciplinary exchange, it brought together a wide variety of works-in-progress on society and culture produced by Western Australian scholars from all disciplines and all career stages. They ranged from postgraduate students to established researchers, from academics as well as nonacademic researchers and practitioners.

Eight panels were held over two days, covering literature and the arts, national and regional identity and history, veterans politics and the memory of war, politics large and small, implications of the digital revolution, social and cultural theory and planning for the future.

The keynote address was given by Professor Ross Gibson, Media Arts and Production, University of Technology Sydney.
