The changing role of women working in criminal justice organisations

Criminal justice is a highly gendered arena.Anne Worrall

As criminal activity is overwhelmingly a male pre-occupation, organisational responses to it, have been (though often implicitly) dominated by gender considerations.

The role of women in the police and corrective services has been the subject of increasing attention and the gendered nature of leadership in these organisations is now coming under scrutiny.

In this lecture, Professor Anne Worrall explores the role and expectations of women working in criminal justice and the changes that have seen women breaking through the "glass ceiling" of promotion to positions of leadership, though possibly only to find themselves poised on the edge of a "glass cliff".
