On June 5 we all have a date with the planet....
“Home”, the new film by renowned photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand, was simultaneously released worldwide on June 5, 2009, World Environment Day, and was shown free of charge in UWA's Social Sciences Lecture Theatre.
In his stunning film. Yann Arthus Bertrand takes us on a journey around the globe from a unique viewpoint. Following on from his globally successful photographic exhibition “The Earth from Above”, his new film gives audiences the opportunity to observe the world’s ecosystems from above and to fully appreciate the current state of our environment. Filmed in 54 countries and 120 locations, this movie is a non-profit initiative fostering the protection of Environment. Producers will donate profits back into Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s association, GoodPlanet.
The screening was sponsored by Alliance Française de Perth and the Institute of Advanced Studies, UWA. It was followed by a question and answer session with Dr Karl-Heinz Wyrwoll, a leading researcher in climate and environmental change from the School of Earth and Environment at The University of Western Australia.
