We are pleased to announce that the Hon Bill Shorten, MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services, will present the 2009 Western Australia Disability Collective Lecture.   

Mr Shorten will speak on the human rights and social justice aspects of the National Disability Strategy, particularly in light of Australia’s recent ratification of the International Convention on human rights and disability.

The Hon Bill Shorten MP Biography
Elected as the Labor member for Maribyrnong on November 24, 2007, Bill Shorten was also appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children’s Services by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. On 25 February 2009, the Prime Minister allocated to Mr Shorten the additional responsibility of Parliamentary Secretary for Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction.
